Our Sherwood Rotary Club is making a positive difference, both locally and globally, through two strong Foundations: the Sherwood Rotary Foundation and the Rotary International Foundation. In 2017-18, Sherwood Rotary will award $31,325 in grants to local causes that support our focus on youth and community as well as international outreach. These programs include Faith in Action, high school scholarships, international youth exchange, youth leadership development, support for St. Francis Action Group outreach, public safety assistance, peace projects, and in collaboration with Newberg Rotary support for a community in LaPlata Columbia to establish parks, daycare, hospital and kitchen equipment, firefighting supplies and septic systems. Sherwood Rotary raises this money every year through our annual spring Tree Sale and donations from our members.

By contributing $100 per member annually, Sherwood Rotary supports Rotary International Foundation's global mission to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through improvement of health, educational enhancement, and alleviation of poverty. The Rotary Foundation gave global grants totaling $76 million in 2015-16 to projects that promote disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, education and literacy, economic and community development, maternal and child health, and peace and conflict resolution. These funds were directed to communities around the world to provide medical equipment, mosquito netting, school supplies and teachers, water purification systems, good hygiene practices, prevention of pollution and soil erosion, and peace-building education. Rotary sponsors these projects through thousands of local clubs on every continent.

Everyone can make an impact in their own community and in the world through Rotary programs. Opportunities to participate in hands-on projects are available locally and in foreign countries when you support Rotary. Please consider being part of this important effort to make our neighborhood and our planet a better place for us to live. Sherwood Rotary Club has 29 members and meets every Friday from 6:45-8:00 AM at the Sherwood Senior Center, 21907 SW Sherwood Blvd. We welcome visitors to join us.
